Psychotherapy and SSP/RRP
Therapy with a difference

You may be here as you need to make a real change in your life. Maybe you suffered from a difficult childhood or have experienced a traumatic event that left you feeling  hyper-vigilant or shutdown.  You may have a feeling of high anxiety that you cannot shake or have been in pain for a while or suffer from a chronic illness

You may have had therapy before, but talking about "it" made you more anxious and your body still felt like it was on fire.

As a trauma therapist and after many years of training, I know that healing has to involve the whole body.  I truly understand that trauma, anxiety, and stress aren’t just emotional experiences—they completely shift your physical biology. When your nervous system stays stuck in survival mode, it sends real, physical distress signals through your body. If we don't address these physical symptoms, your mind can't fully find its way back to peace. To truly heal, we have to work with your mind (top down) and body (bottom up) together.

So how does SSP/RRP and therapy actually work?

Most people are aware of what happens in therapy. It is a place to process your life and feelings with a therapist who steps into your world to explore it with you with acceptance, empathy, respect and humanity. Yet traditional talk therapy may fall short because trauma and burnout aren't just stories your mind retells—they are physical imprints your body carries.

Adding SSP or RRP is a natural accompaniment to this process and is a great nervous system warm up in the background whilst therapy takes place.  To work fully, SSP needs real coregulation from a trained therapist who understands their nervous system so they can support yours. Both SSP/RRP are something you can continue at home with your own app and headphones between sessions so that deeper therapeutic progress can happen naturally and gently.

“Today, our survival depends increasingly on developing our ability to think rather than being able to physically respond. Consequently, most of us have become separated from our natural, instinctual selves—in particular, the part of us that can proudly, not disparagingly, be called animal. Regardless of how we view ourselves, in the most basic sense we literally are human animals. The fundamental challenges we face today have come about relatively quickly, but our nervous systems have been much slower to change.

The flow and transition package
A three layered approach

Therapy

Building a trusting connection takes time, so healing unfolds best when we can move at a gentle, supportive pace . We will take all the time you need to build a warm, steady connection and gently work through what you would like to process.

We will pause often to see how you feel and talk about your progress together.

SSP/RRP

You listen to SSP in session and when ready at home through your app .

Alongside the healing benefits of the music itself, a major part of the SSP is about giving you practical self-regulation tools. It gently guides you into the habit of checking in with your nervous system and listening to what your body needs throughout the day.

Somatic Work

I accept your nervous system exactly where it is. Together, we can  use intentional movement to energise you  or relaxation techniques to calm you down

We can  see where you are holding physical messages so that they can become a vehicle to explore deeper feelings and memories, releasing stored stress and returning to safety.

“After trauma the world is experienced with a different nervous system. The survivor’s energy now becomes focused on suppressing inner chaos, at the expense of spontaneous involvement in their lives. These attempts to maintain control over unbearable physiological reactions can result in a whole range of physical symptoms, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, and other autoimmune diseases. This explains why it is critical for trauma treatment to engage the entire organism, body, mind, and brain.”
